Wow, we had a great day with REVERB at their Eco-Village! A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS, RIGHT?
Here’s the backstory — on May 27th, we received a kind invitation from Paige Roth, Community Outreach & Volunteer Program Manager for Reverb. If you aren’t familiar with REVERB– check out their link. The bottom line is they GREEN-UP tours for major acts like Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson, Maroon 5 and Barenaked Ladies (who we were lucky enough to be a part of for the July 3rd appearance at the PNC Waterside Pavillion in Solomons, MD).
We are truly blessed to have people JUMP on the Team Green World “ambassador” train to march along (or dance in this case) to help spread our mission. We are happy to introduce you to our newest AMBASSADOR for Team Green World, Natasha Frisk, Owner & Operator of Fitness & Energy !. Thank you Natasha for joining us in our mission to teach kids of all ages to think ecologically using MUSIC as the messenger.
Meet Wade an 13 year old SUPER-talented artist who lives in our community!!! He has his own comic book facebook page all set up. Earlier this year we had the pleasure of meeting Wade at our local Boys & Girls Club when we brought our eco-educational program to the kids one rainy afternoon. Imagine my surprise when this young man walked up to me with a sketch in hand?
There is so much to talk about that I don’t know quite where to start — so how about this picture? Isn’t it wonderfully PACKED full of kids who just participated in our Earth Day program at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore event?
Is it really Friday? Yeppers! It sure is – FUN! It’s been a great week and we are hustling to get ready for events underway for Earth Day! Time just keeps ticking away and we are sooo excited about all that is happening in our world. These are the kids from our Youth Mentor Program– meet Charles, Sabrina & Michael.
Happy Spring to everyone, I can’t say enough about what a loooong winter this has been and I think we all agree that it’s time for warm weather, flip flops, getting outside and feeling the dirt beneath our toes (and fingers)! Don’t you agree?
Top of the DAY to you! I’m Rhonda Carson and I am a Volunteer for Team Green World. My title? Special Projects and now I’m entering into the world of BLOGGING to share with all of our friends about my “JOB” at on-site events and programs — UPCYCLING… clothes and turning them from old unworn items to cool, trendy, fashionable eco-friendly clothes. I’m also going to share cool things you can MAKE like the item in this BLOG.
Well, I was blown away to find out that there are actually people out there who are reading my BLOG — WOW! Thanks so much. I hope I offer something valuable today because I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment with all of the fundraising that’s going on right now to help fund our programs in 2015. Fundraising– what does that mean, really? So I looked it up in the dictionary.
Last Wednesday I attended the first of several workshops for the upcoming GIVE LOCAL PIEDMONT campaign that we have been invited and accepted to participate in. EXCITING STUFF! So – what seems to be the BIGGEST thing talked about?
Wow– where did 2014 go to? I’m sure you are asking yourself the same thing as you return to the “real-world” after the holiday break. So– here’s a wrap-up for our December. Team Green World finished up 2014 by partnering with WARF 0915 Class along with Families 4 Fauquier that is operated by the wonderfully passionate Rachel Pierce who does all kinds of great things for the families in our community.
How may emails did you have in your email box after Thanksgiving? I was amazed that I had over 700 and most of them were people asking for money because Tuesday December 2nd was Giving Tuesday. You might be asking what’s all the hub-bub about with this Giving Tuesday thang and what is it? Giving Tuesday was a global day dedicated to giving back. I love how the word “give-back” rolls off the tongue.
So this is my first attempt at writing a blog for Team Green World. I’ve been thinking for a while now that I want to reach out to you all personally about what my days are like now that Team Green World has really started to become active in my hometown & community. The picture is with our wonderful teen volunteers Ariel, MacKenzie & Elle (taken at Piedmont Harvest Festival). Thanks to Kathleen Goode (we now have some awesome teen and pre-teen volunteers at events to help us with our mission). Saturday, October 25, 2014 was National Make A Difference Day.
It’s all thumbs up with Eco the Butterfly (our Smokey the Bear for the Environment) and Michael. Why? Because they have teamed up to educate kids and parents to care about our environment. Nine year old Michael is our youngest environmental steward in our mentorship program. He also plays the role of “Happy Can” in our children’s program and appears regularly at our events helping children to understand that it is FUN to Think Ecologically!
This October 25th, millions of volunteers across the nation will unite with a common mission – to improve the lives of others. For more than 20 years, USA WEEKEND Magazine, in collaboration with Points of Light, has brought you Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of community service.
According to the EPA, environmental education is a process that allows individuals to explore environmental issues, engage in problem solving, and take action to improve the environment. As a result, individuals develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues and have the skills to make informed and responsible decisions.
Team Green World brought our brand of Eco-Edutainment to Green Festival DC’s Family Fun Stage this past June. And they loved it! Check out what Green Festival National Program Director, Robert Butler, had to say about us.
Earth Friendly music for all ages! Do you like Adele? Maroon 5? Sheryl Crow? The ever-quirky Randy Newman? Our Team Green World songs are FUN, INTERACTIVE, dance/party songs for both kids & parents. Help “teach” your kids the importance of “Thinking Ecologically!”
